One great aspect of Costa Rica is that there are always interesting things to see and do. Ask the concierge of your Costa Rica house rentals for what events are happening during your visit. One of the more eclectic events of the year is the Envision Festival.

The organizers of the Envision Festival describe it as “a celebration dedicated to awakening our human potential, Envision provides a platform for different cultures to co-exist in sustainable community, as well as a forum in which to create and explore new paradigms by inspiring one another through art, spirituality, yoga, music, dance, performance, education, sustainability and our fundamental connection with nature. Envision offers an opportunity for people to come together in community to share, dance, play, celebrate, love, learn, teach, co-create, co-inspire and together transform our individual and collective consciousness. We hope that Envision changes people, and that they leave with a desire to continue to grow and evolve in their relations with one another and with the world.”

As you can extract from their description of the festival, the Envision Festival is intended to be more than just a music festival. The experiences planned for the 2014 event include:

Music. Acts will perform on four stages over four days. As you might expect from a festival with such a progressive agenda, you will not find well known pop acts on the program. Some of the headliners include: The Egg, Caca de la Vaca, Quixotic, David Starfire and The Polish Ambassador (not the actual Polish Ambassador, but the electronic musician from Oakland, Ca).

Yoga and Movement. This experience features non-stop classes in two shaded movement spaces. Directed experiences from Envision 2013 included Lux Moderna who describes herself as a sonically-oriented alchemical priestess in service to ritual, performance and community. She specializes in electronic music production, mantra, neuroscience, mythology, ceremony design and facilitation. Lux Moderna dedicates her being to a conscious, heart-centered experiential approach to facilitating mass entrainment with the creative essence of the universe.

Performance Artists. Performance art includes such a diverse range of performers and performances that the only constant is the performer and the audience. Acts from Envision ranged from the MOOPsquad (who are on a mission to bring awareness to litter) to Icarus Zaure (whose medium is body art and performance makeup). You are sure to find something to inspire you.

Healing Sanctuary. According to organizers, “the vision of this space is to create a tropical healing sanctuary and positive energetic container through a variety of workshops and healing modalities.”

Spoken Workshops. Inspiring workshops ranging from Julia Butterfly (who spent 738 days living in the canopy of an ancient redwood tree to bring awareness to the plight of ancient forests) to Zan More who leads a workshop dedicated to sacred geometry, energetic systems theory, and metaphysics covering the nature of perception, principles that transcend individual experience, and the relation between the mental/consciousness and physical reality.
